In ancient times salt was one of those special minerals that people died for.
Equivalent to money, salt was used for exchanging goods and services.
People would use it to preserve their food and offer to guest as etiquette.
Why is salt so important?
Salt leaves the body through sweat when we run,
It holds in the water we consume, without salt we feel tired and weak.
In contrast, to much salt can cause problems like increased blood pressure which can lead to heart attacks, strokes, dementia and kidney disease. (Reference)
So to much salt is bad and not enough salt is bad.
Keeping a balance of salt will aid in the overall health and well-being of individuals.

What I do,
I learned by reading Aubrey Marcus’s book, Own the Day, Own Your Life, that we lose water while we sleep and he adds salt to his morning glass of water.
I already drink water in the morning so I decided to give it a try.
What I have noticed is I become more awake faster in the morning.
Now it’s not a significant burst of energy it may even just be placebo, but at least i’m getting in my essential minerals!
