Top 5 Podcast for August

Top 5 Podcast for August

Podcasts are the modern day radio, except now there is a station covering all topics, and we have the internet. Professionals at the top of there field can now create a podcast and talk directly to their audience. No more middle man fixing and editing the narrative. This is only going to continue as more people find out and hear about podcasts. I love listening to podcasts when possible: in the car, while I bike/run, when i’m cooking. Basically, whenever I am doing an automated movement I have a podcast playing.

I have put together a list of my top 5 podcast recommendations for the month of August 2018.

1. The Joe Rogan Experience

The Joe Rogan Experience is a great long form podcast. If you don’t know who Joe Rogan is, he is a stand up comedian, and martial arts commentator. With now reaching podcast number #1148 not including the 36 MMA episodes, the Joe Rogan Experience is at the top for most listened to podcast. He has interviewed scientists, athletes, comedians, writers… The list goes on and what I like about this podcast is the long discussion. The episodes duration range from 1 hour to 3.5 hours. If you enjoy long format discussions on a wide variety of topics from top performers this is at the top of my list.

2. Waking Up with Sam Harris

The Waking Up with Sam Harris is another long form podcast. Sam Harris is a neuroscientist, philosopher, and best-selling author. On the Waking Up podcast Sam Harris interviews other scientists and educators on the topics of the human mind, society, and current events. If you love to learn and think about big questions, The Waking Up Podcast is my recommendation. Along side the podcast, Sam is soon to release a guided meditation app.

3. The Bulletproof Radio

Named #16 of The 100 Most Influential People in Health and Fitness by Greatist. Highly caffeinated high fat Exec, Dave Asprey, is a biohacker that is working on living to 180. He is the creator of Bulletproof coffee and the first person to talk about adding fat to coffee. What is being Bulletproof? Being bulletproof is “The state of high performance where you take control and improve your biochemistry, your body, and your mind so they work in unison, helping you execute at levels far beyond what you’d expect, without burning out, getting sick, or just acting like a stressed-out a-hole.” Dave Asprey is the first person I heard from that mentioned the term biohacking.

4. The Tim Ferriss Show

Host Tim Ferriss is the author of the bestselling book The 4-Hour Workweek. Tim Ferriss is called “the world’s best human guinea pig,” by Newsweek. I love listening to the Tim Ferriss show because he deconstructs top performers like Michael Pollan (Professor of journalism at UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism), Karlie Koss (American Model and Entrepreneur), Aubrey Marcus (Founder of Onnit) to name a few out of the current #330 episodes. If your interested in a wide variety of topics The Tim Ferriss Show digs deep to find the out the tools and tactics listeners can use and apply to their lives.

5. The Aubrey Marcus Podcast

Aubrey Marcus not only appeared on the Tim Ferriss show but he also hosts his own show. He is the founder of Onnit which is a health based website. Aubrey has deep conversations with guests in the fields of athletics, health, business, fitness, science, relationship and spirituality. Also, Aubrey is a psychonaut interested in the workings and teachings of altered states of consciousness.
